Chains of Connection

2025

A collaboration with elementary school students at Camp Eagle Rock, Friday Harbor, San Juan Island, WA

Each student was given a half-pound ball of clay and tasked with creating a single closed loop form. Naturally, students talked and watched each other while constructing their loops - leading to repeated images, shapes, and ideas. Instead of getting to keep their own individual piece, the students’ loops were connected, permanently binding each students’ construction to their peer’s.

Chains of Connection is permanently displayed at Friday Harbor Elementary School.
